WT2C Develop communication and engagement activities with partners

Highlight and communicate shared priorities, climate risks, and ongoing adaptation actions with partners. Use this communication to emphasise the importance of your collective action, internally and externally.

Sub tasks:

Share examples of existing member organisation’s communication and engagement resources such as vision documents, awareness raising presentations and graphics. Distribute each organisation’s individual goals or vision (Task PI2A).

Create a joint vision amongst partners.
- Agree desired outcomes.
- Consolidate partner’s aims in a shared vision that you are collectively working towards.
- Create a programme of work together to achieve the agreed vision, that supports each partner’s aims
Organise a joint event to raise the profile of existing adaptation work and build understanding and support for action.

Identify newsworthy adaptation projects, challenges and opportunities that partners are working on either separately or jointly. Develop a basic communication plan aimed at developing and communicating these news stories and/ or case studies. Activities could include
- Including news stories and case studies on websites and in newsletters;
- Providing supportive quotes as part of a news story for a project being undertaken by a partner organisation;
- Using social media to communicate and share news stories and case studies.
- Coordinating the release of news stories and case studies so that there is a consistent set of regular communication.
Expect resistance and diffuse opposition – recognise that change challenges the status quo ; support partners to see how climate change links to their priorities and engage those whose interests might be jeopardised to look for new opportunities
